It’s about to be that time of year again. Crunchy leaves on the ground, cold mornings followed by sunny afternoons, apple picking, and orange everywhere from the leaves to the pumpkins on your doorstep.
Well, Fall started a bit early for us this year when we launched our pumpkin fritter on September 1st. That’s right, our pumpkin fritter is back for the season!
Not that you really need justification, but here are five reasons why you need to get your hands on a pumpkin fritter before Fall ends:
1. Pumpkin fritters are the perfect treat to go with your PSL
Fall also happens to be pumpkin spice latte season and what better treat to go with your PSL than a pumpkin spice fritter? Grab your PSL and run over to The Fritter Shop for some pumpkin fritters!
2. Fritters keep you warm on a cold Fall day
Nothing cuts through the crisp fall air like a warm fritter. And because it’s Fall it has to be pumpkin, of course. We always suggest heating up your fritters for maximum gooeyness!
3. Pumpkin fritters make for great Thanksgiving treats
Are you in charge of Thanksgiving dessert? We’ve got you covered. You’ll be the favourite guest at Thanksgiving dinner when you show up with a box of pumpkin fritters. Pie who? The new Thanksgiving staple is a pumpkin fritter.
4. Halloween is around the corner
Trick-or-treat! Pumpkin fritters are way cooler than your average Halloween candy. Having a Halloween party? Wow, your guests with some spooky pumpkin fritters!
5. You can bring them anywhere!
Our pumpkin fritters are basically like portable pieces of pumpkin pie, but better! You can’t walk around eating pumpkin pie, but you can easily eat a pumpkin fritter on-the-go!
This is your reminder to add a pumpkin fritter to your Fall bucket list. Be sure to come see us for some pumpkin spice fritters this Fall before the season ends!
We’re falling for pumpkin this Fall. Are you?
Everyone always asks us, “what does it take to make your fritters?” Sometimes we can give a little behind-the-scenes sneak peek, but we can’t give too much away. Our recipe is pretty top secret. But have you ever wondered what it takes to actually run the Fritter Shop? From the store to the events and markets to delivery, it can be a lot. And there’s one person who’s the face of it all…
Recognize this face?
Say hi to Kelvin, CEO and owner of the Fritter Shop, here to give you all a little rundown of a typical day running the business.
Well, it turns out there’s no such thing as a ‘typical’ day for Kelvin. But let’s say it’s an average day with no markets or events, Kelvin wakes up at 5:30 AM, presses snooze until 6 AM because how does anyone just wake up right away? Then he gets out of bed and makes some breakfast before checking his schedule for the day. He gets to the bakery in St. Thomas at 7:30 AM and begins the prep, turning on the fryer, checking upcoming orders, and making a list of all the tasks he needs to complete for the day. Finally, at 8:30 AM, the bakery opens its doors for all your hungry tummies.
Around 1-1:30 PM, once the bakery work is all done, it’s break time! After showering off all the flour and sugar, Kelvin enjoys a nice lunch (and no, it doesn’t usually consist of fritters). After baking, comes the administrative work, including emails, meetings, and wait for it…
…putting the plan together for a LONDON LOCATION!! This is currently taking up most of Kelvin’s time. There’s SO much to consider like location, staffing, hours of operation, following all regulations, funding, can we even make enough fritters for another store? This list goes on and on, but they’re all exciting questions to consider!
The workday usually ends around 5:30-6:00 PM and then it’s time to kick back and relax. Kelvin plays soccer in his downtime but has a torn ligament right now. Don’t worry though – he can still make fritters! Bedtime is 10 PM and then it starts all over again the next day.
But if it’s a market day, he’s out of bed by 4 AM! (Naps are a must on these days).
I think we can agree the fritters taste that much better after finding out all the hard work put into running the business. From waking up as early as 4 AM to baking and business planning, there’s a lot more that goes into your fritters than you thought.
Now that you know, it’s time to stop by for your fritter fix!
Who’s excited about a potential London location?
For some, summer is a time for relaxation, venturing outdoors, and recharging after a long winter. For us at the Fritter Shop, summer is one of our busiest times of the year! It’s GO GO GO all summer long! From the shop to the markets to all the events in between, we’re always on the go.
…And we wouldn’t have it any other way! We love the summer because it means so many more opportunities for us to connect with you and share the love of fritters.
So, where can you find us this summer?
1. UWO Farmer’s Market Tuesdays 9 AM – 2 PM
We kick off our weeks at the UWO Farmer’s Market located right on Western’s beautiful campus. No student ID required – you don’t have to be a student to stop by and enjoy the local vendors. But fritters do make a nice study break snack if you happen to be on campus for summer courses!
2. Masonville Farmer’s Market Fridays 8 AM – 1 PM
Nothing says summer like the Masonville Farmer’s Market! After a shopping trip to Masonville mall, step into the parking lot for some amazing local produce as well as a variety of other vendors (including some yummy fritters served by yours truly).
3. Horton Farmer’s Market Saturdays 8 AM – 12 PM
On Saturdays, we like to hang in the place where it all started, St. Thomas! You can find us every Saturday at the Horton Farmer’s Market, along with other local artisans and vendors.
4. Art in the Barn July 13 – 14
Taking place in Dorchester, ON, Art in the Barn is Southwestern Ontario’s largest summer arts and crafts festival and we’ll be there, serving fritters the whole weekend!
And as always, we’ll be in our regular spots…
5. The Market at Western Fair District Saturdays 8 AM – 3 PM / Sundays 10 AM – 2 PM
Spend your weekends with us at the WFD Market! You can find us there on Saturdays and Sundays all year long!
6. The Fritter Shop (St. Thomas) Mon – Wed 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM / Thurs – Sat 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM / Sun 10 AM – 4 PM
Of course, our St. Thomas location is open every day of the week if you can’t make it to one of the markets!

Fritter Fam! We’ve been working on a special partnership that is near and dear to our hearts, and is sure to hit close to home for many of you!
We’re partnering with the Canadian Cancer Society to raise funds in support of their local London branch! During the month of April, $1 from each lemon fritter purchased from The Market at the Western Fair District will go directly to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Who is the Canadian Cancer Society?
The Canadian Cancer Society is a charitable organization made up of dedicated volunteers, located in communities across Canada. Through generous donations and fundraising, they are able to help fund cancer research projects, as well as provide support services to those living with cancer and their loved ones.
Like any charitable organization, the Canadian Cancer Society needs funds to operate. That’s where we come in!
We are fortunate enough to have such a great group of customers and we thought, why not mobilize our audience for a good cause? We know how kind and giving you all are and knew we’d have no problem getting the Fritter Fam involved!
Let’s help the Canadian Cancer Society do good with fritters! By purchasing a lemon fritter in April, you are supporting an organization that is working to eradicate cancer and create an overall better quality of life for all Canadians.
If you want to participate, please use the hashtag #FrittersGiveBack and #Frittersbitecancer when you post photos or stories of your lemon fritters this month!
So Fritter Fam, are you ready to get involved? Our goal is to raise $1,000 for London’s chapter, which means we need to sell 1,000 fritters during the month of April. We can do it, but not without your help! We’ll be baking all the delicious fritters, but we need people to eat them of course!
This month, please consider purchasing the lemon fritter during your trip to the Market – a tasty flavour perfect for Spring and it contributes to a good cause. A win-win! Whether it’s one fritter for yourself or a few dozen for an event, each purchase makes a difference!
